Cinnamon Toast

Toast was not a childhood memory for me as I grew up on a ranch in Montana where we had no electricity. So hot baking powder biscuits was the breakfast bread on our table.

But, for some reason, I woke up this morning craving cinnamon toast. Now I haven't had cinnamon toast since my children were small. But I do remember that they always thought it was such a special treat.

So I unveiled the toaster, softened some REAL butter, set out the sugar and cinnamon.

What a sweet treat it was along with some strong, black coffee.

I think we sometimes forget what small things can bring us joy and sweet memories.

How long since you have had cinnamon toast?

My youngest LOVES cinnamon toast and yet I never make it. He had it at my aunt's this summer. My mom used to make my dad broiled American cheese on white bread with sugar on top. I remember liking it them, but I wouldn't eat it now. I'm thinking I might just have to make some cinnamon toast and hot chocolate for my kids once the weather cools off around here -- maybe in the next couple of months. :/ Have a great week! :) Tammy

Stella, you are SO right. For dinner tonight I had a very simple, home-made broccoli/pea soup and it was DELICIOUS.

Hey Stella, I had a craving for cinnamon toast just the other day! I made two pieces and it just tasted heavenly! I, too, hadn't had it in such a long time. I'm glad to see that you are well. I've had a very busy summer and I'm glad to be getting back into a more normal routine. Stop by and visit, I'd love to hear from you.

Hi ~ thanks so much for visiting today! Mmmmm, cinnamon toast, my favorite breakfast growing up! I will have to have some in the morning now (or maybe a mid-day snack!!) I did paint the brick around my fireplace...just cleaned it good and used regular paint!

Stella -- the real question is "how long is it going to be until I go and make myself a piece?" Yumm..thanks for the reminder.

It was a childhood treat for me -- tea (mostly milk) and toast then. now I'd join you in the strong cup of coffee to go with.

I didn't realize you grew up on a ranch way out west!

Hi Stella. Oh, I forgot all about cinnamon toast. I use to love it when I was a kid and dip it in hot cocoa on a cold morning. Yummy!

My Mum used to make french toast for me when I was little. I have never had it like you describe, I don't think it's common in England. I may try it for my little cousin, he LOVES cinnamon!

Hi, Stella,
Just a few days ago I had cinnamon toast. It seems I make it more this time of year. Maybe it is the autumn season. Cinnamon toast brings back many memories for me, too. My momma fixed it for me quite often. I always loved it and still do. Thank you so much for coming by for a visit. Have a happy, happy week, my friend~ Vicki
