Why Is It?

Could someone tell me why you have to peel this many apples to get this small bowl of apple suauce.
And why I would even do it since I can just go to the store and buy it in a jar.
Well, I have to confess it is pretty yummy.

LOL! I know what you mean. You think you are going to have way too many apples until you start cleaning and peeling them. It is so yummy when you make your own and it smells so good too. Have a wonderful weekend!

Because it tastes so good and it smells so wonderful when it's cooking. I canned lots of it last year and I've been hoarding the last two jars. I will be making more this year, it's so good.....

Oh, it looks so yummy!!! Do it smell as heavenly as it looks? I have heard some people don't pre-peel at all... they cook up the entire apple and then let the peel and seeds be removed when they run it through the strainer or ricer.. or whatever gadget you use.

Thanks for coming by. Yes, it is good to renew and complete a long standing project. I'm slowly getting all of mine cleared out. haha

What a funny post Stella. We can't do anything like real cooking in our little RoadTrek and were just talking about how some of the cooking shortcuts we take are pretty darn good -- and maybe we should still do those things when we're actually in our house with a real kitchen.

But you know what? I don't think any bought applesauce would be as good as homemade -- and if I were in Oregon with our 5-w, I'd go pick some from my daughter's trees and make a bowl. When we're there I can give the peelings to her chickens!

Yikes now I'm homesick ;>)

Yes, but the real deal is so gooooooddd!!! I love homemade applesauce. I used to make a crock pot full when my kids were little. I miss those days :(

This is a great post. Next Spring I'm gong to take picture of all the cherries it takes to pick and pit to make a cherry cobbler. I will have to say that it too is worth the effort.
