Not Quite Yet!

With temps in the mid 60's today I knew if I wanted to get some final yard work done before old man winter was breathing his icy breath down my neck I needed to get busy.  We have had several frosts so I assumed all my plants and garden had gone to sleep for the season.  Under a pile of leaves I found this plant happily blooming and looking as if it was Spring.  What a nice gift in the middle of November.

While pulling up tomato vines I found these three fellows snuggled
down close to the ground under all the dead foliage.

So I guess it's not quite winter yet.  But probably tomorrow.

Dear Stella, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. Cancer really seems to be rampant these days. In 2005, I lost my MIL in June and my uncle in September, both to cancer. Sending hugs and blessings your way. What a surprise in November to find such pretty flowers and tomatoes, too. Enjoy while you can. Best wishes, Tammy

Hi Stella. What a lovely surprise to find those tomatoes hiding away, and that pretty little flower. Likewise, it has been a lovely day here, and I've spent it in the garden, tidying up and cutting the grass (which takes me two hours!). I don't expect we will get many more days like this here either, so it was lovely to get these things done. I have been thinking of you and remembering you in my prayers at this sad time. Take care.

I always loved those last hangers-on and wow, especially when they're good to eat!! I have to go back and see when you posted this -- I remember one year we had tomatoes from our garden on Thanksgiving.

(I"m glad to be back in one place and gradually catching up with all my favorite people!)
