Cozy Corner

Do you have a cozy chair where you like to hang out and read or watch TV? This is my favorite chair in a corner of the living room where I read and bird watch.
About the only TV I used to watch was HGTV and I stopped doing that as they not longer focus on decorating shows. I came to the conclusion if I have to watch one more house hunting show I would scream.

However, I am an avid reader and often read more than one book at a time. Am I the only one who starts more than one book? Sometimes the book I am reading just doesn't fit my mood or may not move fast enough. I used to finish every book I started because I felt if a person had enough talent to get a book published it must have some merit. But I decided several years ago I don't have many years left to read so I am going to read just the books I really enjoy.

This is the side table where I pile the books I am reading. It is a vintage luggage stand that I have place a watercolor picture on to make a top. If I get tired of the top I just look for another picture.

In front of my chair is a foot stool where I place my hot tea.

This is a stack of vintage suitcases I use to store my books and magazines. I have a dog who thinks anything paper is fair game as a chew toy. Which means I have bought more than one book from the library.
Hope you have a favorite chair where you can read and dream.

G'day, Stella ~ What a lovely corner for yourself ... so beautifully decorated. Yes, I do have my own chair & corner & stacks of books I am reading all at the same time, too.

Happy Valentine's
Have a beautiful week.

Hi Stella! What a lovely spot to read and drink tea!! I don't read as much as I used to. I should make time to do so. Love your colored olden suitcases!
Be a sweeties,
Shelia ;)

that's a cozy corner; I love the idea of the suitcases as table. I agree about the books. If it doesn't hold my interest I have given myself permission not to finish. It's funny how that seems like such a rebellious thing to do!

That is a great spot . I love your tea things & your vintage table !
I read several books at a time also.
When one is less interesting to me it takes a long time or never to finish it .lol I think I'll start to look for some vintage suitcases for storage also. That is a neat idea .
Blessings,

Oh yes, I have several cosy spots to sit and read. I usually have three books on the go. One for bedtime reading, I keep that upstairs and one for breakfast time reading, I keep that downstairs and a reference book that follows me round the house, usually to my office.
I love your teapot and mug!
Blessings from one Stella to another.

Ohyes, I have my favorite chair. It's a medical recliner. Which means that it moves to any position, by electricity. Not just 3 positions by hand. :-)

I use it all the time since it's the only seating anywhere, in which I'm comfortable. Read. Watch tv. Nap. :-)

Same here, I can have more than one book going, at once. And I do not have to finish a book, just because I started it. Life is way tooo short for that. :-)

Yes, I have a favorite chair, too. It's red and white striped and I slip-covered an old ottoman with red and white floral. : )
Loooove your vintage suitcases. You've put them to good use, as well. : )

I have a cozy corner that looks a lot like yours! I too read several books a one time. I think I've gotten a little ADD as I've gotten older. It's getting harder and harder to watch tv...just can't stand all the interruptions with senseless commercials every 5 minutes. Just not worth it when I can entertain myself on the computer reading blogs.

Hope it is warm your way!

Stella, if I had a cozy corner like yours, I probably not leave it very often.

I luv how you've used a picture for the side table top...very clever and beautiful.

I must go now and spruce up my cozy corner. Happy Valentine's Day to you.

Let me tell you Stella, you are not alone in your feelings about HGTV. I feel exactly the same about them and about DIY. What happened to jewelry making, scrapbooking, crafting, decorating and gardening? All they have is houses for sale, houses for rent, people buying houses, staging a house for sale, buying a house in the middle of nowhere-Mexico, people who want to move from point A, USA to point B-Geenland and how much does your house cost of if you live off the Coast of Hawaii as opposed to the middle of Nowhere, Minnesota. UGHHHH...I wanna scream: BRING ME BACK THE HOME AND GARDEN SHOWS!!!! OK, now I'm stressed out. Off to go get my cup of chamomile tea.

My special reading place is on my back porch, however in the winter even in Florida it's not suitable. Which would explain why I haven't done as much reading. Your reading nook gives me inspiration to set up an area....now to find a comfy chair that someone's giving away!
