Hallways

Shortly after we moved into our current home I realized that for the first time I had blank walls at the end of my halls. Previously I had always had a linen closet or bedroom door at the end of my hallways . Now I don't know if I just don't like blank walls or if it was just another opportunity to play with my collected treasurers but soon my hallways had a new personality.

This is a very long hallway and without something
at the end it resembled a bowling alley.

I placed a long mirror with a matching stool at the end of the hallway.
This lighten it up considerably as the mirror reflected back light
and images from the other rooms.

Placing a simple vase with three large flowers added some
more interest and color.

This is a short hallway but it is the one my guests see as they hang
I had a small wrought iron bench painted cream that I covered with t
he same fabric I have on my dining room chairs that just fit in the space.

On the wall I hung two vintage picture frames inside of each other
and added two small mirrors.

On the bench is a vintage hat box, a cookie jar turned vase, and a small lamp. Now I don't mind looking down my hallways. Do you decorate the end of your hallways or am I the only one?

Stella -- that is lovely! Your home is so welcoming. I love the way you use your treasures, like that white table. If I had your decorating talent, I'd never want to leave home!

What an amazing job you did with those blank walls!

You are a great decorator with an eye for beauty and the unusual - the mirror brightening up the hall, and the piece that surrounds the mirror - gorgeous - the flowers.

The next one putting one vintage frame in another and adding mirrors . . .

You go girl. I loved them

Sandie

PS To reply to your comment on my blog - yes - that was a double message and you got them both!

Actually, there are doors at the end of my hallways. One goes to a bathroom and the other goes to our bedroom. And you bet I decorate my hall walls! But of course!
Yours looks very nice indeed!

I liked your idea about blogging and visiting. PERFECT. That is what is beginning to happen here. Especially lately with so much going on. I've had more time to visit sweet bloggers such as you.
:) Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciated your input.

Mona

Hi Stella, I like what you have done at the end of your hallways. MIght as well make the view pretty! I like your use of plaid. The mirror will certainly add more light and the frames within frames turn our attention to how beautiful the shape of the frames are.
To answer your question- I have collected the crocheted hearts over a 7-8 year period, just picking them up as I saw them. Many times covered in pins and needles that I had to pull out one at a time. (good thing my tetanus shot was up to date.) Thanks for visiting my blog!

Those look so pretty now. I love how you made the vignettes. I have my bedroom door at the end of my hallway. I would rather have a blank wall to decorate.
