Should, and Would, If I Could

Usually this is the time of year I hunker down in my sewing room and work on the quilts I have started or try to finish one. I promised myself I would make a quilt for all seven of my granddaughters before I couldn't see anymore.

Well this year I haven't done a thing. Not sewed one stitch. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was spending my free time visiting my blogging friends. Well maybe.
See my machine is all set up and waiting for me.

This Sunbonnet Sue is pinned and ready to quilt.

Isn't she so cute and old fashioned.

I have another quilt started that is much more contemporary. Pieced in hot colors and blacks. The centers of the blocks are dogs and cats.

I still need to piece a couple of more rows for this one.

I really do want to quilt but you see I have a slight problem. My sewing room is full of kitchen cabinets that I am painting. I usually paint in the garage but it is waaaay to cold.
No, I am not redoing my kitchen. My husband is doing a good deed for a young single mother at our church. Since he has no paying remodeling jobs he is helping her out by donating his labor. She is on a very tight budget so we bought unfinished cabinets and I am painting them white for her.
So I should be quilting before Spring comes and I won't have time, and would quilt if I could get in my sewing room. Meanwhile I guess I will just have have to go visit my blog friends.

Oh my gosh stella you and I are in the exact same place. I have so many things going on - things I need to do - things I want to do - and they are all over the place - and here I am on the blog!

Go figure.

Blondes or I mean blogs are more fun! lol

I think it's wonderful that you've put off quilting to paint the cabinets in your sewing room. I see that Mr. and Mrs. Starlight are very kind-hearted.

The "almost finished" quilts you've shown us are very pretty.

Hello, Stella,
You and your husband are sweethearts to help out this young mother! Bless you both! I love that Sunbonnet Sue quilt!! I don't sew at all so I have the utmost respect for those of you who do. I get my thread tangled in so many knots when just trying to put on a button, grrr!! I am glad you visited me today at Bunny Cottage! It always brightens my day when you do. Can you believe we have snow covering everything here in Central Texas? Very unusual for us! Vicki

Thanks for visiting me today. Those quilts are so beautiful.
Maybe I need to take some class to learn something like that and get my butt off the computer. What a sweet thing your husband is doing.

Oh, Stella, such a beautiful post and such a beautiful gift you and your husband are giving this young woman! And I love the quilts you are working on for your granddaughters! You really do have your hands full!

Thanks so much for visiting me. I've been having such computer woes! Even the 'geniuses' at Apple couldn't figure out what was wrong, they ended up replacing the hard drive and now I have to wait for my husband to get a chance to re-install things and acquaint myself with things again! I hope to be back blogging sometime next week!

All the best,
Eileen

Isn't it funny how you can turn your house into a workshop? My living room has been my workshop for 2 months... which looking on the bright side, I was able to watch tv while I worked! :)
Wonderful thing you and your hubby are doing!
thanks for commenting on my media center, I'm so glad it's done!
