Pillows

It seems like after I take down all my Christmas decorations I get the mid-winter blahs. I always feel like I need to do something to perk up the house a little. This year I decided some new pillows for the living room would cheer me up a little.

I found this sweet pillow at an antique mall. It was more than I wanted to spend but after I calculated all the costs for a pillow form, material, trim and a zipper I realized it was a bargain. And I didn't have to make it. Ah! nothing like instant gratification.

Just after Christmas while my SIL & I were shopping (looking) in Pier I I spied a pillow that was very similar to this one. I loved all the fluffy ruffles and it reminded me of a peony flower. I needed one of these. Oh! no way, I am not paying $40.00 for a pillow. So how did it find a home on my couch. My dear SIL found one at Tuesday Morning in Branson. and gave it to me as a gift.

I also found this red leather pillow. Not really my style but love the color. I need some ideas on how to deres it up a little, I was thinking maybe pinning some old broaches on it? Tie some material around it? Any suggestions welcome.

Then I went thrifting this week and picked up this little cutie. It's not very big but I loved the color and tassels.

.

While I was thrifting I found this sample of upholstery fabric for $2.00 and thought it would make a great pillow. I stopped at Hancock Fabric on my way home and found the perfect trim. This should make a beautiful pillow.

Well, maybe not. After I had spread the material out over my footstool I realize with another piece of material for a skirt it would make a great slipcover. OK, what would you do? Is it a pillow or a slipcover for the footstool.

Ooooh, they are all so pretty! And I wonder if the Tuesday Morning in LS has those pillows? The footstool would look really nice with that tapestry and trim. That's my vote!

Pillows are such a quick update to a space! Love the additions you made. I vote using the tapestry for a slipcover for the stool. That would be lovely!! Springtime can't come soon enough.

Hi Stella! What pretty pillows! The fabric looks so pretty too. Are you going to get more and slip cover the stool? Thank you so much for popping in to see me.

Oh I love the use of pillows and change up on a few objects to freshen our spaces and create eye candy. I especially love the first roll pillow ...yummy....

No ideas from this distincly non-crafty person. But I love the red pillows. When we owned a (real ;>)) house, I remember January being my least favorite month because of the post-Holiday let down. The red is a great idea!

Oh I love your pillows and fabric! My kind of a look. Pretty and pink. :-)

Thank you for stopping by my blog, and especially, for leaving a comment there. Comments are lovely! We get a wee pat-on-the-back, which is always nice. And they help us find new bloggers. And lovely new-to-us blogs, like yours.

If you find some great icicles, please take some pics and maybe we can actually have a length contest. ,-) No real need for the "contest" but I was just trying in insert some silliness, into this cold time of year.

Oh and forgot to say, I love the name of your blog! A beautiful old song, that. Love it, and the idea of using it, as a blog name.

Yes, it would definately make a nice slipcover! I like your idea to perk things up. Actually some of my Christmas is still up, I am working on it and two rooms are done. My daughter was helping me. After the rooms were cleared she said to me "I always thought you had too much stuff in these rooms but now that Christmas is down they look so empty." I think I need to bring in some color like you did!

All of your pillows are so pretty. I agree with you - everything looks so dull after I take down the Christmas decor. I think using a different trip and recovering your footstool with that fabric would look great! laurie

Oh I think a cover for the footstool, undoubtedly! You certainly got some very good buys there. Just the thing to brighten up a room at this time of the year! I saw your comment on Chatty Crone's blog, and thought I would pop over to see you. Your blog is just the sort of thing I love, so hope you don't mind if I follow you from over here in England. Greetings!
