This Spring while I was doing a little fluffing to make the house look a little lighter and more springlike I brought one of my garden benches inside. I folded a couple of quilts to soften the wooden slats, covered it with a spring green throw and added a couple of pillows.
It sat there all summer looking cute but we didn't use it much as it faced the fireplace. A couple of weeks ago I decided it should look a little more like winter and fall so I headed to one of my favorite thrift stores to see what I could find.
Look what I found in my favorite color. RED! I found all this bundled in a plastic bag for under $5.00. It is a bed set for a twin bed. It included a bed skirt, two pillow shams, a round table cloth, a small square tablecloth and three pillows. I cut some foam to add to the quilts as you could still feel the slats even with all my padding. I was so excited by the color it added to the room. But last night as we sat watching our first fire of the season my hubby said. "You know this bench isn't very comfortable I don't think we are going to like sitting on it all winter." So what do I do? Let him suffer all winter because I love the look or find somewhere else for my treasure?

This is a hard decision to make. I love the look, but if Hubby is not happy....well, you know. I have had to give up many things to satisfy my better half. lol Hope you can come to an agreement you can both live with. Have a great weekend.
Well you want to be comfy and cozy when your sitting in front of the fire.
Oh, I love the red! It's so cheery but you will want to make Hubby comfy. I'm sure you'll come up with something. Thanks for visiting and I wish you a delightful weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
Love that red and man oh man was the price ever right. Looks great. Surely it can't be that uncomfortable. Maybe he just needs to get used to it. My husband is always rolling his eyes when I change stuff around. Have a great weekend. Tammy
Hi there. Can't believe how cheap all that gorgeous red stuff was. What a great idea to bring the bench inside and decorate it like that. It does look lovely and warm for Winter, but I think I would probably agree with your hubby on the comfy side of things!!
You asked about the pineapple sage. I have always treated the herbs in my pots as annuals. Years ago, at my first house, I had herbs planted in the bacyyard garden and many of them came back each spring. I never tried that with the pineapple sage, but it's certainly worth a try.
I like the red for fall - but I really love the green for spring - my favorite colors. sandie
Aw gee whiz hubby has to be happy. You cant enjoy that nice cozy fire without snuggling up and it would be no fun snuggling up alone... I love that bench and what you did to it and wow what a bargain to boot... Isnt there somewhere else in the house where it can go??? Or maybe you could find a used love seat in your travels to use with the same materials. Cheers, LJ
Oh bummer! It's really pretty. Can you put it someplace else in the room -- or another room?
No room in our little house here in Oregon for arguments -- there's pretty much just one spot for everything. Little more room to play around with decorating in Florida and maybe I'll figure out how to do that one of these times.
Even if your bench isn't comfy, it sure is pretty dressed in red/white! What about putting a thick foam padding on the seat...I am assuming it the seat your husband is finding uncomfortable.
