Thanksgiving Tablescape

Company will be here Tuesday so I have been trying to get my house in shape. You know dust the guest room and guest bath. I have even taken time to set the table for dinner the night they arrive. I'll just throw a table cloth over it for the time being so no dusty dishes.

The center piece is wax fruit and as you can see some of our fore fathers have come to share the bounty.

The bottom plate is one I bought at Garden Ridge many years ago. The plates are larger than usual so the men in the family like them for family dinners.

On top of the Poppy plate I place a plate from Artuino called Tuscan Rooster.

I found these cute maple leaf dishes at CVS on sale. Won't they make cute
salad bowl?

I stumbled on to these silver candle sticks at an antique mall. I just loved all the intricate work on them. They have a makers mark on the bottom but I need stronger reading glasses or a magnifying glass to read it.

I have placed an antique mirror in the corner of the dining room so it reflects back the table. I hope if you double click you can enlarge the picture so you can see it better.
I did take pictures of the silverware that I am using but they didn't turn out well. I had so much shine from the flash you couldn't really see the silverware. If any of you could give me some hints for taking pictures of silverware I would be grateful.
I have much to be thankful for but I am already thankful this week that the house is ready for my guests. Have a wonderful weekend.

Oh, to be so organized. I can only imagine what that's like.

I, too, luv the idea of the mirror reflecting back your beautifully set table.

Stella, Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Hi Stella,
My husband would LOVE those big plates! When we were choosing dishes before we got married, 31 years ago, his ONLY concern was that there was enough "food" room on the dinner plate.

As for photographing silver -- don't use a flash. At all. In fact I don't use any flash photography for the blog- I take all the pictures in natural light. If they are a little too dark (and usually they are not) then I open them up in a photo editing program (if you blog with Blogger then you already have Picasa available to you) and lighten them with the "brighten" option.

Flash photography takes the depth out of pictures. And it is reflective, making it very hard to get good shots of things like silver.

Now I have to go chase a woodpecker off my porch; he's fallen in love with our house and is becoming a real pest!

That is a beautiful table. And what's funny to me - you got pieces from different places and when you put them together it turned out so pretty.

I am so envious of all you girls and your place settings.

You did a great job and I'm sure the guests will love it!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Sweet Stella~ I'm strolling in to catch up and especially to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving!
It's such a wonderful time to stop and reflect on all those we cherish and are truly grateful for.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to visit and leave feeling inspired!

Even though our Thanksgiving is very small in number, with hubby and son (we don't count the cat cause she doesn't like turkey). We don't scrimp on the menu...from appetizers to desserts with several carb loaded dishes in between! We will be enjoying tryptophan playoffs too!

Sweet Holiday wishes,
Sara

I love your beautifully coordinated Thanksgiving tablescape!
Your table linens are perfect! And then the dishes you put together are so pretty, I couldn't pick a favorite, as much as I love roosters, I also loved the little leaf bowls and the big plates! It's all so beautiful and I love the idea of the mirror.
My husband and my son's love big plates too, I have so many, many dishes but only a set of eight really big ones, so of course those are the ones I use most!
My new turkey dishes and my Christmas tree dishes are tiny in comparison so no one is very happy about them except for me!

You did a beautiful job!
'Hope you and your guests enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving!
All the best,
Eileen
