Rain, Rain, Go Away

I have had company for the last week. My SIL and her sister were visiting from Colorado and California. They are both avid gardeners so I had planned outings to the Loose Park Rose Garden and Powell Gardens. If you visit Kansas City both of these are must see places if you love gardens. However, the weather had other plans. It rained all the time they were here.
We did make a couple of excursions to garden centers. It was very interesting to my SIL's trunk loaded full with plants on their way to Colorado. And the rain continues today.
So now I have plants sitting in cardboard boxes waiting for the rain to cease.
My red climbing roses have braved the rain and burst into bloom despite no sunshine.
Isn't it a shame this rose only blooms once a year? Each spring I wait anxiously for it's yearly display.
I did get a couple of pots planted and with the all the rain they caught hold nicely. They are calling for rain again tomorrow. Oh please, just a couple of days of sunshine is all I ask.

Gorgeous roses ... love rain! but we've had a bit much thus far this spring ... preparing us for a dry summer, I suppose.

Have a lovely week.

Well Stella, this is the thing, without the rain, you wouldn't have those flowers! Does that help? No? Well I tried. lol sandie

Your yard is gorgeous. So green! And those blooms are fabulous! So beautiful. We don't get rain very often, and when we do, it usually just makes a mess. The dust we have gets into every nook and cranny, indoors and out, and smothers the plants. We are to have dust storms all weekend and likely all summer, which is why me and the kids will be heading to the States for 45 days. My time to get back to nature. Hope you are having a great day! Thanks for stopping by. :) Tammy

I feel your pain. It nearly always rains when we have out-of-town-company! Doesn't matter whether we're living in Florida or Oregon.... We know it's needed and we love the green places, but wish it would hold off when we're trying to show off!

sounds like you had a fun visit anyway -- and the flowers are beautiful. Here's to a few days (at least) of sunshine at your house!

Thanks for visiting. I had to see beauty in the textures, because shade has a mind of her own.

Your climbing roses looks so pretty. Better than mine. The rain has started mildew on them and they are looking sad. It is hard to spray them with fungicide when it rains too.Your pot looks lovely. I am hoping to get some annuals out this weekend.Fingers crossed LOL!
