Well I wanted our almost finished basement to look nice. I just have some final touches to add to a few rooms. One of these is my sewing room. As you all know basement windows are UGLY! Or at least mine are. I needed a quick fix. I had planned to make curtains but hadn't yet looked for material. A quick look through my material stash and I found some material I have been hoarding to upholster just the right chair.
I hung white curtain rods and bought rings with clips to hold the curtains. (If you buy these don't buy the kind you have to slip the hook over the ring. They don't work well as they don't want to stay in the rings.) Because at some point I still want to use this material to upholster I just folded the top of the material down and clipped on the rings. Because the material is heavy and won't fray I just draped the bottom on the floor and tucked the edges under.
The new curtain add some color to the room and partially hide the windows.

Oh Stella - they just called and said that four are coming for two weeks? That is so sweet of you.
Love your sewing room - those curtains were just the right touch.
I had those kind of window wells at my house in Chicago - we got a ground hog caught in one of those - it was a comdedy of errors trying to get him out!

What pretty fabric. You had a great idea. Your little sewing room looks so nice. A comfortable place to be creative. Mine looks like it's been hit by a tornado.
I like the idea of long curtains to hide the little basement window. It's such festive fabric too! Looks nice. Have a great visit with your relatives.
Hi Stella! Wow, you were quick to the draw! That's some great fabric you had and it really looks like a curtain. How nice to have a room just for sewing and maybe sharing with a guest or too! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Great quick fix!!! I made a curtain out of a table runner. I don't sew well and it was so easy.
Your peonies are lovely. A white one is on my list.
Thanks for stopping by.
Deb :)
Those curtains certainly brighten up the room Stella...much cheerier now!

I haven't had a basement for years (usually homes in Oregon don't have them, because it is so wet) -- but this brought back memories of remodeling our first home (in Eastern Washington) adding bedrooms for kids and a family room in a totally cavernous basement. What a job. And I don't think our windows looked anywhere near as good as yours.
Of course the details are kinda fuzzy -- We're talking about half a century ago, if you can believe that. thanks for the memories.
Enjoy your time with family...
Looks really great,,, love the fabric.. and I love your sewing room,,, it looks so pretty and light.... have a great weekend.

Quick thinking Stella, great fabric for that window treatment. Have fun with your relatives.
Your quick fix looks great. Have a wonderful visit with family. Best wishes, Tammy
Your curtains add the perfect touch to this room.
Looks great, nothing like unexpected visits to get us moving and cleaning up the house (I should invite people over more often, it's always what helps me clean up)! Have a fab weekend, and have fun with your cousins.
